"The painting depicts a conflict between my brother Eric and me. Two years apart in age, we had a contentious relationship until we became adults. One of our most striking differences as children was our demeanors. I was quite hyperactive and garrulous, while Eric was shy and reticent. I loved the song 'Bad, Bad Leroy Brown' and sang it constantly (and loudly), which aggravated Eric to no end. Though we have grown more similar over the years, we followed vastly different life paths. Details in the painting suggest some of these differences. This piece is part of a larger body of work depicting human conflict and strife." - Ira Greenberg
