"My girlfriend’s little brother John can hold his breath to the point where lifeguards on two occasions have jumped in the water to save him. Swimming at a distance from John during the early days of Quarantine felt uneasy. We just didn’t know how the virus worked. We hoped the chlorine would kill it and perhaps it couldn’t travel through water anyway? He was wearing this one-piece swimsuit that made me assume that John was a professional and he far exceeded the skill of any swimming ability I may have had at his age. This made me think of me as a child fishing illegally in the private ponds that a local dentist owned near where I grew up. My mom would never ask where I caught the fish. She just seemed very happy to be cooking them for my little brother and I. Seeing John hold his breath made me feel like I was watching a superhero. Perhaps that’s the way all children can make you feel." - Sean Cairns
